Fork In The Road + Burlington School Food Project

The Farm 2 School Program at Burlington School Food Project and Fork in the Road are partnering to bring you a youth-driven food truck that sources it’s ingredients from student run gardens and wonderful local farms. Fork in the Road is a youth job training program developed by the Burlington School Food Project that focuses on local food education, culinary skills and hospitality. The student staff train with Burlington Technical Center’s Culinary Instructor, Chef Jason Gingold and learn kitchen/food safety, knife skills, and general flow of hospitality. Once trained, they work at various vending locations throughout Burlington, do garden work, and attend personal development workshops. FITR believes that to build a stronger, healthier community we must all support our area farms.

The Burlington School Food Project offers whole, fresh, and local meals to 3,600 Burlington students. With one third of purchases coming straight from VT farms, we’re building a new school food culture. The Farm to School team connects students to our food system through the high school greenhouse, half-acre Healthy City Youth Farm, and more! Check out our new food truck: Fork In The Road.
